Deeply Rooted in
Central Hawke’s Bay
We’ve been leading Central Hawke’s Bay Civil Contractors for some time now, with roots dating back to the 1970s. Barker Contractors, founded by Michael Barker, was renowned for its diverse range of services, including forestry roading, agricultural contracting, earthmoving, fiber drainage, council road work, and large-scale quarries.
In the 1980s Barker Contractors streamlined its focus, selling off forestry operations to specialise in chip sealing and complimentary civil services.
In 2021, Jacques Theron who had initially joined Barker Contractors as General Manager, purchased the company and alongside his wife Sheri, they rebranded to Baron Contractors and launched a new business division, Baron Traffic Management.
Throughout our journey, Baron Contractors has remained steadfast in our commitment to integrity, quality, and community, ensuring we continue to be Hawke’s Bay’s most trusted and respected civil contractors.
